Murray has enjoyed the experience and encouraged his fellow NBA peers to suit up for Pro-Am games if they are healthy enough to do so.
Dejounte Murray had a stressful start to the 2022 NBA offseason, as his name flew through the trade rumor mill in the buildup to the 2022 NBA Draft. He was eventually traded to the Atlanta Hawks in a massive blockbuster deal that figures to see the Hawks emerge as one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference.
Murray has been balling out at Pro-Am games and encourages his NBA peers to join him
With his future now in place, Murray has gotten back on the court to keep himself in shape this offseason. More so than any offseason in recent memory, NBA players have been showing up at Pro-Am leagues or tournaments to get some runs in during their downtime in the summer months. LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan helped start the trend by showing up and playing in a Drew League game, and ever since then, players from all over the NBA have been finding their way to these leagues for a quick game or two.

Murray has joined in on that trend and linked up with his new teammates, Trae Young and John Collins, for a game at Jamal Crawford’s CrawsOver Pro-Am league. The experiences are meaningful for the players on the court to stay in shape, but it also allows fans to get out and see some of their favorite players in action for free. Murray has enjoyed the experience and encouraged his fellow NBA peers to suit up for Pro-Am games if they are healthy enough to do so.
“To my NBA brothers. If you healthy and love hooping man get out to these Pro-Am so these kids and and people who can’t afford to see us be able to see us for free. We ain’t too big for that sh*t!” – Dejounte Murray, MSN
Murray has the right idea when it comes to these Pro-Am games this summer
As Murray notes, these Pro-Am games benefit both the players and fans of the NBA. The players get valuable reps in 5-on-5 action over the offseason, and fans get to show up and watch their favorite players play.
For some fans, it’s an opportunity that isn’t present during the regular season of the NBA. Tickets for NBA games can be costly, and some fans may not have the means to attend these games. Most of these Pro-Am games are free of cost and allow fans an opportunity to watch some very talented players up close.
It’s an excellent opportunity for both parties, and Murray’s message encouraging his peers to show up hits the nail on the head. Hopefully, more players will heed Murray’s advice and get some runs at these Pro-Am events, as they have been a great source of basketball entertainment during the quieter days of the 2022 NBA offseason.
